Transportation

Measurement is made by the shortest distance along public roadways, walkways or pathways between the entrance to the student's home and the nearest public entrance of the school building the student attends. This measurement is for eligibility purposes only and is not necessarily the travel path to or from school. The final determination of the most direct route will be at the discretion of the board. 

Courtesy busing is based on the district’s ability to provide safe and efficient transportation only. All courtesy transportation provided is therefore contingent upon the location of the student’s residence and the route and/or distance traveled to and from the student’s residence and the school the student attends being safe for the buses to travel as determined by the Paramus board of education. Students living in areas that are unsafe, difficult or impossible for a bus to travel shall not be eligible for transportation. For example, students’ residences located on cul-de-sacs, dead ends, high-traffic roads, hazardous routes, etc. may not be eligible for transportation.

Out-of-District

Transportation to and from school to public school students attending special accredited schools in other districts, including private schools, is provided in accordance with state rules and regulations.
